2 months old!

Well, our little Amelia has been with us for two whole months now.  She is really becoming her own little person.  Amelia is still pretty fussy, but she definitely has her moments when she is taking things in and being quiet.  I think her vision is becoming clearer as she now enjoys looking at the mobile and watching people's faces.  Bath time continues to be her favorite (and our favorite) part of the day since that's the only time we can have 100% confidence she will not cry.  Amelia had her two month appointment and measured in at 11 pounds 11 ounces (75th percentile), 23 1/2 inches long (90th percentile), and her head was in the 75th percentile too.  The doctor said she is perfectly healthy.

Next week Amelia will be attending "Bottle Boot Camp" with her Aunt Mara.  She suddenly stopped taking the bottle a couple weeks ago and we obviously can't have that!  I need to be able to leave her for more than three hours at a time.  Wish us (mostly Mara) luck, it is NOT going to be fun.

Happy 2 Month Birthday!

Bath time!

She is thinking, "Pleeeeease don't take me out of the tub!".

So cute!

Trip to Freeport

We did it!  We finally made the drive to Freeport!  Kevin dropped me off at Jessi's tennis match and I drove home with Kenny, Lorraine, and Debbie.  BTW - Jessi won her match against a really tough opponent.  Go Jessi!  The ride out wasn't that great, but it could have been worse.  We stayed with Uncle Kenny and Aunt Lorraine and had many, many visitors.  Thanks for being such great hosts!

Happy with Lorraine and Kenny!

In awe of this little girl who can make soooo much noise

Maddie was insistent on holding Amelia, her nose definitely wasn't "lying" about wanting to do that! ;)

They Come from Near and Far

Amelia has been extremely fortunate to have so many visitors in the short eight weeks since she's been with us.  Her most recent visitors came all the way from Abu Dhabi - her cousin Sam and Sam's boyfriend, Scott.  They flew in on a 16 hour flight yesterday and who was the first person they came to visit last night?  Miss Amelia!!  She should feel so special.

The past week has been more of the same.  We actually had a couple of good days last weekend, but it was short-lived.  I bought Colic Calm (gripe water) and it seemed to help, although I think it was purely coincidental.  I am pretty sure she tired herself out after crying for five straight days and that's why she slept for a day and a half.  Nights are getting better, so that's one positive.  In spite of a challenging almost two months, we still have a lot of fun.  See for yourself!

Olivia couldn't wait to hold Amelia, crying or not!  She even helped me change her diaper!!

Living Up To Its Reputation

The dreaded 6 week mark!  Amelia has been having her roughest week yet.  Yesterday, she was up from 8:30 in the morning until 9:00 at night.  Same thing Tuesday, and today hasn't been too much better.  The minute we are able to get her to sleep and put her down, she wakes up immediately.  Nothing makes this little lady happy, and by nothing, I mean NOTHING.  She hates the following:  swing, vibrating chair, laying on her back, stroller, baby bjorn, going for walks, riding in the car, her carseat, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few.  Bouncing on the exercise ball helps at times and so does laying her on her tummy.  We are working on getting her to sleep in the crib, but she's up every hour to hour and a half.  The only way she sleeps for longer than a couple hours is if she is sleeping ON me!  I really hope that after a couple weeks of this endless crying and no sleeping, things start turning around.  Any guesses on how long it is taking me to post this???

We had a nice Labor Day weekend.  Lauren and Bill had everyone over for fajitas and fun, so it was good to see my girlfriends!

Here are some pics from the last week.

Big News and BIGGER News!

My computer screen broke, so I haven't been able to provide updates for a bit - we have a lot of them!

Amelia's 1 month check-up:  Big girl still!  She remains in the 95th percentile for height at 22 inches (this would mean she didn't grow between appointments, so I think her 2 week appointment measurement was off a tad), 75th-90th percentile for weight at 10 pounds 1 ounce, and 75th percentile for head circumference.  The doctor did not have much to say about how much she fusses and cries, she basically just said it really sucks and it will get better.....eventually.  She did comment that she is a strong baby, already able to bear all of her weight on her feet.  We expect an early crawler/walker just like her Ziesemer cousins.

Speaking of cousins..............the bigger news is...............

Another cousin is on the way!!!!  Mike and Mara are pregnant!  Vivian is going to be a big sister!  Amelia will have another cousin arriving the first week of March!  Mara is already out of her first trimester and the baby is doing great.  The heart rate is always in the 160s to 170s, so I am secretly (or not so secretly) hoping for another girl.  Like Vivian, they will not be finding out the sex of the baby, much to my dismay.

Smiling now.  Amelia has begun to smile.  The first smile was the day before her 1 month appointment and she is becoming more and more generous with them.  She will really only smile first thing in the morning and it's usually in response to some extremely high-pitched talking from me or Kevin.  She's probably just smiling to get us to be quiet! ;)

My favorite

This one could be a smile........or just gas!

Sunday Funday.  Last Sunday, Grandpa and Grandma Z came for a visit.  The whole family went for walk to the park (yes, Amelia cried the whole way there and the whole way back).  It was a beautiful day and we took some cute pictures.

Freddie - he sure can jump for a Frenchie

More visitors.

Melissa came over lunch and held Amelia to give me a break.  Thanks!

My birthday.  Turning 31 is awesome!  Not.  It was a good day though.  Mara and Viv came over with homemade soup and birthday cake!  Mara is now showing with her baby bump so that was fun to see.  :)  She also relieved me from Amelia duty and held her the whole time.  Nice!  Kevin came home with a nice surprise - sushi from Coast, chocolates, and a gift certificate to the Four Seasons for me to use at the spa (although he is already petitioning to come along for a treatment too!).

Me and my beautiful niece! :)
