6 months Today!

Happy Birthday to our little "half" year old baby!  These past months haven't exactly flown by, but it's still weird to think she's already been with us for six whole months.  And we continue to love her more and more every single day!

So, after her shots on Friday she was not her usual happy self.  The old Amelia came out and I still wonder how Kevin and I made it through those rough times in the beginning.  She slept for 2.5 hours when we got home from the doctor (very unusual since she only takes 15-20 minute cat naps).  Then she had a fever and was super fussy.  Luckily she slept from 6:30pm to 5:00am, but she woke up very fussy and stayed that way for most of Saturday.  And she still had a fever.  Sometimes I wonder about having all of those vaccinations (4!) at the same time.  Today she was back to her chipper self and even surprised us with a new word!  "Da -Da"!!  She obviously is not saying it purposefully, but it sure is fun to hear.  We took a video we'll post below.

Kevin had his holiday party on Saturday night so Grandpa and Grandma Z came to babysit.  Greg, Pauline, and Christopher came over to visit before we left so it was nice to see everybody.  Christopher even helped me give Amelia a bath.

Amelia's big milestones are sitting up all by herself for as long as she wants to, using her pincer grasp to pick up objects, eating all cereals, veggies, fruits, meats (YUCK), and puffs, and saying "yayayaya" and "dadadadadada".  We are working on the crawling, but I think it will be a while.  She has no arm strength like her mama.  :(

Posing!

Her hair is really starting to come in now!

Almost 6 Month Doctor's Appointment

Amelia had her six month appointment today, two days before her actual "half" birthday.  Everything went well!  Dr. Dave said she is very healthy and is right on track.  She continues to be very tall, but not keeping up with her weight.  The doctor said lower weight is common at this age and alerts us that she is ready for more solids and specifically more meat and fats (avocados as a heart healthy fat).  She weighed 15 pounds 12 ounces (45th percentile), measured 27 3/8 inches long (95th percentile), and her head circumference was 16.5 inches (45th percentile).  From everything I have read, by 6 months babies should double their weight and she did exactly that (7 lbs 14 ozs birth weight).  So, I'd she is perfect! ;)

See below for some pictures from last weekend.  We celebrated Olivia's 4th birthday and also had a sleepover at my friend Gina's house.

Fun in the bean bag chair with the Birthday Princess!

Happy New Year!

Our New Year is off to a great start!  All due to Amelia being a great baby.  She is really good in the car now, our trip to Freeport went fine (we left from Elgin so she wasn't in the car too long).  I even took her around to some of the doctor offices I call on and everybody thought she was such a chill, well-behaved baby.  I felt so proud! :)

This blog is getting harder and harder to maintain now that I am back to work!  I am even slacking on taking pictures as I don't think I took more than a couple on Christmas Eve, Christmas, or New Year's Eve.  New Year's Eve was pretty funny.  We spent it with Kelly and Ted and went to party down the street in "waves".  Kelly and I were at the party until just before midnight and Kevin and Ted took the late shift.  It is said that what you are doing at midnight is indicative of how your year will be.  Kevin and I were trying to get Amelia to go back to sleep.  Uh oh.

See below for some pictures from the Ziesemer Christmas and some videos of Amelia sitting, attempting to crawl, and talking.
