9 Months

Amelia turned 9 months last Sunday!  I can hardly believe it - she is becoming a little girl now, not just a baby.  She had her check-up and is doing well.  She weighed 17 lbs 4 ozs, which puts her in the 40th percentile now.  The doctor said they only get worried if she falls under two growth curves, so she's still okay.  Plus, she had been really sick the previous week and was not eating too well.  She actually had a double ear infection when he looked inside her ears.  I felt horrible that I missed it, but she was not displaying the obvious signs of tugging at her ear, nor were her ears hot to touch.  The only sign was that she screamed every time we tried to change her or put on her clothes, and apparently ear infections hurt way worse when babies are lying flat on their backs.  Lesson learned!  She measured 28 1/4" long (80th percentile) and her head circumference was 17 1/4" (50th percentile).

Amelia also started crawling three days before her check-up.  It is so fun to watch her get around!  She seems to be even happier now that she can go and do what she wants.  Her favorite activities are:  getting pushed around on her train, watching Freddie, banging her rattles together, pulling wipes out of the box, reading "Where is Baby's Belly Button", pushing down towers, and playing with her Amelia bench from Grandma Z.  She does not like:  riding in the car (still!), getting her face wiped, having her clothes changed, not having somebody watch her play.  Her teachers at daycare say things about her like:  "Well, that's Amelia (in response to anything I ask that doesn't make sense to me)", "Amelia knows exactly what she wants and doesn't want", "Amelia seems like she is going to have a lot to say when she gets older", and "Not that Amelia is going to be bossy, but she is going to tell you what to do".  Geez, can't wait!!

Here are some pictures from her 9-month birthday!

You can see her two bottom teeth if you look closely!
